Seppi Mulcher Teeth: A Replacement Guide from MINIFORST to MAXISOIL

A forestry contractor maintaining forest roads in the Dolomites burned through a season’s budget of teeth in eight weeks. His MIDIFORST dt was doing the work of two machines — mulching brush one week, crushing stone the next — but he was ordering one generic tooth for everything. Seppi builds at least half a dozen distinct tool styles across its range, and matching the Seppi mulcher teeth to the actual job is the single biggest lever on wear cost.

Know your machine: the Seppi family tree

Seppi M. has built mulching equipment in Italy since 1939, and the range now spans an enormous spread of applications. At the compact end, MINIFORST cl and MICROFORST cl serve compact loaders, while the MINIFORST line handles small tractors in orchards, vineyards and firebreaks. MIDIFORST dt steps up to dual-drive forestry mulching, STARFORST and SUPERFORST cover heavy tractor work, and MAXIFORST is the flagship for the toughest conditions. Above that, the STARSOIL and MAXISOIL machines are stone crusher-tillers that mulch wood, crush stones up to 50 centimeters and till 35 centimeters deep — a different league of tool stress entirely. The BMS-F series and SMO/SMW flails cover excavator and roadside work with swinging hammer tools. Tooth standards, bolt sizes and rotor counts differ across all of these, which is why the model name is the first thing any supplier should ask for.

The tool systems: MONO-PROTECT, MINI-DUO and V-LOCK

Seppi’s carbide tooling divides into a few recognizable families. The MONO-PROTECT line is the workhorse: a single large carbide insert protected by a forged steel body, good for mixed wood and moderate stone contact. MINI-DUO pairs two smaller carbide elements for aggressive cutting with finer mulch output. On the heavier tillers, the V-LOCK system seats tools in a special rotor profile — SUPER MONO PROTECT EXTREME, ULTRA MONO PROTECT V-LOCK and BOLT MONO PROTECT V-LOCK among them — where the holder and rotor wear together and replacement means the complete tool unit. Excavator flail mulchers use carbide hammers such as the ULTRA DIGGER V-LOCK EXTREME. If you are unsure which system your rotor carries, photograph one tooth from the side and one from the mounting face; the seating profile identifies the family instantly.

OEM references and what to measure

Aftermarket catalogs cross-reference Seppi numbering in several formats. You will see OPT-style references such as OPT-141 and OPT-228, numeric series like 17602005, and rotor-specific codes such as MINIFORST-193 (also stamped 18202041) for the triple-carbide fixed hammer used across MINIFORST and MIDIFORST drums. Typical fixed-hammer dimensions are an M18 mounting bolt on a 30-millimeter insert shaft, with bolt lengths of 100 or 130 millimeters depending on the rotor. Measure the bolt diameter and thread, the insert shaft, and the tooth envelope before ordering — Seppi’s own configurators treat these as distinct line items, and so should you.

How many teeth per rotor — and when to rotate

Tooth counts scale with working width. A MINIFORST 125 runs about 20 teeth, a MINIFORST 200 about 33, and MIDIFORST drums go from 29 on the 175 up to 38 on the 225. The MIDIPIERRE dt stone crushers run 24 to 36. These numbers matter for two reasons: budgeting — a full rotor set at 38 teeth is a different invoice than at 20 — and rotation discipline. Operators who rotate tooth positions at half-life, moving edge-worn tools to center positions and vice versa, routinely get fifty percent more life from the same set. It costs nothing but the labor you are already spending.

What we supply for Seppi machines

Our Seppi-compatible mulcher teeth are factory-direct aftermarket carbide tools in the MONO-PROTECT and MINI-DUO styles used across the MINIFORST, MIDIFORST, MULTIFORST, STARFORST and MAXIFORST families, plus the BMS flail series. Bodies are forged alloy steel with a uniform grain structure, tips come in single-carbide and dual-carbide options matched to your ground, and every batch runs through automated brazing and hardfacing lines with full material traceability. Because Seppi builds many rotor configurations, send your mulcher model and original part number — OPT-141, OPT-228, 17602005 or the equivalent — and we verify tooth type, bolt size and quantity per drum before quoting. Private-label programs for distributors are available.

The same selection logic applies across brands — see our guides to FAE mulcher teeth and Prinoth mulcher teeth if your fleet runs mixed European equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Are your Seppi teeth original manufacturer parts?

No. We are an independent aftermarket manufacturer. Seppi and the model names on this page are trademarks of their owner, referenced for compatibility only. Our teeth are engineered to the original dimensions and verified against samples or drawings before production.

Can one tooth type cover both mulching and stone crushing?

Only in light conditions. For regular stone contact — STARSOIL, MAXISOIL and MIDIPIERRE dt work — use the heavy MONO PROTECT EXTREME or V-LOCK EXTREME patterns with maximum carbide. Running a standard MONO tooth against 50-centimeter stones will round the carbide in hours, not weeks.

Do you supply teeth for the Seppi flail mower series?

The BMS flail series and the SMO/SMW flail lines use swinging hammer tools rather than fixed teeth, and we cover compatible carbide hammer patterns for those rotors as well. Send the flail model and a photo of one hammer for confirmation.

What is the minimum order for Seppi pattern teeth?

Trial rotor sets are welcome. Distributors can also discuss private-label programs with custom packaging and branding — Seppi-compatible teeth are one of our standard OEM production lines.

Send your mulcher model, the part number from a worn tooth, or photos from two angles — contact us and we will confirm the correct tooth, bolt size and drum quantity within 24 hours.
